Andrea Dantus

Staff Counsel, Criminal Legal System

Andrea Dantus received her JD from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in 2021 and served as a public defender in Steamboat Springs, Colorado until 2023. As a PD, Andrea closely observed the way the criminal system functions to disempower the most vulnerable people in a community and entrap those who do not have the resources and privileges required to navigate the criminal system. Her drive to address the harm committed daily by the system led her to Impact for Equity, where she strives to make critical changes in criminal law and policy by working alongside Chicagoans who have had to bear the brunt of the system’s inadequacies.

Outside of Impact for Equity, Andrea is completely obsessed with all things food (cooking, restaurants, farmer’s markets, media), Jeni’s ice cream, and her mini-dachshund.
